Treatment instruments

  • YAG Laser (with SLT mode)

    YAG Laser (with SLT mode)

SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty) is one of the main methods of treating open-angle glaucoma.
The anterior chamber of our eye is filled with a fluid called aqueous humor. It is constantly secreted from the ciliary body and drained out through the trabecula, and circulate in the eye to maintaining intraocular pressure a constant in the eye. However, if the aqueous humor is blocked for some reason (e.g., clogging of the trabecula), it accumulates in the eye, leading to an increase of intraocular pressure and the progression of glaucoma.
SLT is a treatment that uses a laser to burn pigment cells in the trabecula that are blocking the aqueous humor from draining out, thereby improving the flow and lowering intraocular pressure. This treatment can be performed as a one-day procedure and considered for those who tend to forget or feel inconvenient to use eye drops, or for those who are pregnant or have difficulty using them due to side effects.

  • Green laser photocoagulator

    Green laser photocoagulator

  • Treatment with tear plugs/lacrimal plug closure

Since most tears leave the eye through the tear ducts to the nose except for evaporation from the surface of the eye, this method closes the tear ducts to reduce tear outflow and to allow sufficient tears to accumulate on the surface of the eye. We use two types of plugs in our clinic.

    Superflex Plug
    (1)Superflex Plug

superflex plug is a good reviews product that is superior in better fit, more retainability and grater patient comfort. It has a wide range (0.4mm to~1.1mm) so it is comfortable with various lacrimal point size of each patient.

    Keeptear
    (2)Keeptear

They are punctal plugs which are made from biocompatible material, atelocollagen. They are liquid at first, but it solidifies due to body temperature. Since they are liquid, they are easy to fill the tear block, but once they change into gel, it blocks your tear duct with less irritation. *The major component is water soluble collagen. It will eventually melt into your body.

    Punctal Plug F
    (3)Punctal Plug F

The head of plug is designed to be hypodermic shape so that it makes easier for doctors to insert an object without measuring a size of lacrimal punctum. Besides, the plug is preliminarily set at an inserter in order to make it easier to put an inset in lacrimal point and reduce a possible risk of being buried.

  • Warm compress (Eye Hot)

    Warm compress (Eye Hot)

Eye Hot emits red light and heat to help the meibomian glands produce oil. This will help reduce eye strain. The 0.7-micron wavelength light emitted by Eye Hot penetrates the skin more quickly than near infrared rays, warming the eyelids quickly.
